Rory Butler is a songwriter.
In the first half of 2011, Rory completed his debut album, 'Naked Trees' just weeks before his 21st birthday. ‘Naked Trees’ was recorded at home, in a small village in South West Scotland, in the studio of his father-producer Steve Butler.
Rory's childhood was spent in Edinburgh where he developed his love for guitar playing and writing songs. Picking up the guitar at the age of 7, he began writing songs soon after. By the age of fifteen, he had recorded his first 3 song EP, 'Six Minutes Late'. Since then Rory has had the pleasure of playing on several other artist’s recordings, including Edinburgh based song writers David Heavenor, Alan Windram and Craig Ross, with whom he plays lead guitar in the band 'The Easy Tigers'.
In the last year Rory has focused on writing his own original material alongside studying for English at Glasgow University.
Rory’s intricate and masterful guitar work and his compelling vocals are reminiscent of two of his biggest inspirations John Martyn and Nick Drake.
